A long time ago, in Madrid, the water ran under the ground, that first origin of the city gave rise to the ancient Mayrit, that we all already know. Today, this water has become a dream. The dream of a cabin that sinks under the ocean, discovering sea creatures on its path to the bottom of the sea. It is in this journey into the deep where the history of this exhibition emerges.
Every night, when we sleep, we travel to the unconscious through dreams. These make us live a secret life that only we know, and that only we remember during the first seconds of awakening. After this time, the dreams are forgotten and this secret life disappears with them.
Something similar occurs in the marine bottom, mysterious animals inhabit the obscurity in order to not be found. Only some bones of pirates and travellers share the secrets of the depths. And it is in this aquatic underworld where the water hides, lies, and dreams. It dreams as human beings do, who flee from the light to calm their eyes and surrender their gaze to the imagination of the night.
Underblue offers us a journey to the unconscious through a dream in the underwater depths. A sunken cabin that provokes the storm of imagination by involving objects, which are transformed by mimesis into unknown creatures of the world beneath the surface. A dream world where monsters are born when reason dreams.
