One of the foundational initiatives of El Chico is to periodically hold exhibitions for newly graduated artists, serving as a bridge between academic life and the artistic professional world. For our fifth edition of “Adentro/Afuera,” we are inviting graduates from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid—as in previous editions—and including graduates from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. This exhibition will take place from April 23 to April 30, 2025, featuring a selection of works from the latest graduating classes of both faculties. Therefore, to extend the exhibition opportunity to all students, we are opening a call for portfolio and/or artwork dossier submissions for those students interested in participating in the exhibition.

Documents can be sent to info@elchico.gallery from January 15 to February 16, and the selection of artists will be announced on February 28. The selection will be made by the El Chico team based on potential, coherence, and both spatial and conceptual cohesion.

-4th Year Fine Arts Students, academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025
-Master's in Art and Creation Students, academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025
-PhD Students, academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025

Polytechnic University of Valencia
-4th Year Fine Arts Students, academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025
-Master's in Visual Arts and Multimedia Students, academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025
-Master's in Artistic Production Students, academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025

Practical Information

Contact and Submission of Documentation

Students submitting their work must specify their relationship with the university and provide their complete details. All documents must be sent (exclusively) to: info@elchico.gallery, with the subject line “Open Call Adentro/Afuera 2025.” Submissions via social media will not be accepted. The document format should be an artistic portfolio or dossier with technical specifications of the works. The document must contain at least ten works, either completed or as an exhibition proposal. The document size must not exceed 8MB.

Participation Conditions

The shipping and collection of selected works are the responsibility of the artists. For artists unable to collect their works after the exhibition, El Chico will return the works by mail, with shipping costs borne by the recipient, ensuring appropriate packaging for the safety of the works.
El Chico is responsible for the insurance of the works during the exhibition period only; transportation insurance is the responsibility of the artists.
The works will be on sale during the exhibition period, with 100% of the sales proceeds going to the artists. Prices will be defined with the assistance of the El Chico team.
El Chico will draft a specific collaboration/consignment agreement for each artist.
General documentation of the exhibition will be handled by El Chico and shared with the artists.
Some artists participating in previous editions have been selected for solo exhibitions. However, it is not the responsibility of El Chico to select an artist for each edition of Adentro/Afuera.

Important Dates

JANUARY 15 - FEBRUARY 16: Call launch and proposal submission.
FEBRUARY 28: Announcement of selected artists. Only selected artists will be personally notified. Information will also be published on the communication channels of the faculties.
APRIL 14 - 16: Reception of selected works.
APRIL 21 - 22: Installation.
APRIL 23 - 30: Exhibition.
MAY 5: Dismantling and return/collection of works.
